Ecotourism in Rakhine State will see more investment opportunities as Manaung Airport is being extended, according to sources from the recent Rakhine State Investment Fair.

Manaung Island also called Cheduba Island in Rakhine State is the second largest in Myanmar. The island is located in the Bay of Bengal and close to Yanbye Island. Its area is 202.05 square miles and its surrounding areas about 55 miles.

Manaung Island has good prospect for ecotourism development.

Currently, Singapore, Korea, China and India are investing in Rakhine State and among them, Singapore is the largest investor.

"Among foreign investors in Rakhine State, Singapore is the largest investor in our state," said Rakhine State Chief Minister Nyi Pu.

Most foreign investments in the state go to the energy sector while most local investments are made in the hotel and tourism industry.
